Come spend a day harvesting food from the forest, and the sea!
Join us on Saturday 4/27 for an incredible foraging opportunity with author Rowan Jacobsen, Mike Davis of Seattle Truffle Company, and Aldo the truffle dog.
Tickets include:
- Truffle hunt in a forested area near the Hama Hama Oyster Farm
- Guided beach walk and u-pick on the Oyster Farm
- Lunch from the Hama Hama Oyster Saloon (alcoholic beverages not included)
- U-pick oysters and clams to take home: 3 dz oysters and ~3 lbs of clams
- House-made truffle butter to take home
- Cooking demo and samples prepared on the beach
- 5 gallon bucket to carry your catch home
- Branded Hama Hama gloves
- Signed copy of Truffle Hound by Rowan Jacobsen
In the woods, we'll learn about truffles from Mike and Rowan, and follow Aldo the truffle dog as he (hopefully) sniffs out some of these mysterious and compelling forest treats. We'll also forage stinging nettles and talk about the connections between sustainable forestry and downstream ecosystem health.
On the beach we'll talk about how we farm shellfish, identify clam species, and steer you towards the perfect oyster. Then, we'll head up to shore, where we'll cook some oysters over a fire and talk about how to prepare oysters, clams, nettles and truffles at home. This is a 9:30 am - 4 pm event, and you'll need to provide your own transportation between the truffle hunt location and the oyster farm.
This is an all ages event, with extremely limited space to make logistics easier.
Once you buy tickets, we'll follow up via email with more information about things to bring and other logistics. This means that we'll add you to our marketing email list (if periodic emails from us aren't your thing, it's easy to unsubscribe after the event is over.)

Unmarked hazards exist on our beach and in the woods, both man made and natural, so if you venture out please remember to watch your step. We require everyone who walks on the beach to sign a safety waiver and hear our safety spiel.
